BLACK&DECKER LDX120PK Drill and Project Kit
If you are an experienced DIY enthusiast you are not likely to need this drill and project kit. It would make a great gift though for a younger person just starting out or a new homeowner.
Basically, this is a great little starter kit for small jobs around the home. If you don’t own a tool kit and want to have pretty much everything you will need for tackling home improvement jobs this would be ideal.
Features
LDX120PK 20V Lithium Drill – this is a compact drill with a 11-position clutch. The small size and light weight of the drill means you don’t need to be a big beefy builder to use it and it is much easier to use in tight spaces than a large corded drill.
Lithium Ion Battery & Charger – the battery will hold a charge for up to eighteen months and it also comes with a handy charger. The great thing about these Black & Decker batteries is that they can be used with other power tools in their range.
Hand Tools – The project kit comes with a total of 66 tools and accessories. These include; hammer, pliers, wrench, level, screwdrivers, utility knife and various drill bits. The set also comes with a carrying bag to store all the tools in.
PROS
Well priced – With the drill, battery, charger and all the tools included we believe this is a value for money set.
Drill – The lightweight easy to use drill is a great first drill for those new to DIY.
Good Selection of Tools – Most of the basic tools needed for jobs such as installing shelves, assembling furniture etc are included.
Battery – holds a charge for a long time and can be used with other black & decker power tools
CONS
Carry Bag – its fine for storing all the tools but there are no compartments and it is fairly flimsy. We’d suggest an investment of a new tool box would be a good idea for a future purchase.
Tools – most of the tools are fine and if treated well should last a while. The hammer got a few bad reviews might be worth replacing at some point. Also for some reason Black & Decker have provided a larger sized Phillips screwdriver and you might want to buy another #2 Phillips that is likely to be more useful.
Conclusion
For the occasional handyman or women this kit would be all they really need. For a youngster just starting out this would make a good starter kit. They would probably want to add and replace with some more high-quality tools and a new tool case but to be going on with it would be fine.
Online reviews are on the whole favorable describing the set as ‘good value for money’ and ‘containing everything you need for small tasks’. The few negative reviews tended to be about the carry case not having compartments.
